Infilla
About Infilla
Infilla is on a mission to make housing happen faster.
The U.S. is short 4–7 million homes, and local permitting is one of the top bottlenecks slowing new housing. It routinely takes months to years just to approve projects. Municipalities are overwhelmed by:
Rapidly changing state laws and local ordinances
Backlogged projects
Legacy software and paper-based processes
Inconsistent reviews and siloed workflows
Infilla is building the modern permitting platform that helps local governments review projects faster, more consistently, and with radically better transparency. We work side-by-side with planning departments — we literally have office desks, badges, and government emails with some of our customers.
We’re backed by Basis Set Ventures, Base10 Partners, Urban Innovation Fund, SHAKTI VC, 20Growth, Bloomberg Beta, and founders/operators who’ve built products at scale.
Our Product Beliefs
Most permitting software treats the permitting process like a black box. We think that’s wrong. We believe:
Transparency should be a given — applicants and staff should see progress in real time
Software should help people, not just store records — existing systems prioritize compliance over usability
Data-driven policy is possible — the right system enables actionable insights
If you believe products can change how cities function, we should talk.
Our Values
Ideas > Hierarchy - Best idea wins regardless of source. Be intellectually honest.
Progress > Perfection - Get it working now and make it pretty later. Be pragmatic.
Courage > Comfort - We do the right thing, even when hard or uncomfortable.
Kind > Nice - Share clear, helpful feedback often. Voice your concerns and listen.
Why This Role Matters Now
We’ve built tools that are live and used by municipalities today. Now we're building the underlying platform (System of Record) that ties everything together.
We need a PM to own those existing tools, including:
Forum — connects government SMEs and enables public engagement on technical questions
Calculator — helps applicants understand (impact) fees upfront
Application Forms — captures project details and routes them to reviewers
Plus discovery on future products.
You'll own your areas end-to-end, operate with high independence, and ship with urgency. This role is both core and 0-to-1 in nature.
What You'll Do
Own your product areas end-to-end — insight → spec → ship → iterate
Use AI tools extensively — specs, analysis, prototyping, automation
Support discovery on what Infilla builds next
Ship fast — principled, pragmatic decisions with incomplete data, learn from what ships
Write clear specs and use data and user research to drive decisions
Partner with engineering, design, and product to ship the simplest version of valuable
Your First 60 Days
Day 14 — learn
Deep dive into Forum, Calculator, and Application Forms — own the products from day one
Write your first spec; make your first design decision
Shadow government staff at 1–2 agencies to ground your product intuition
Build working relationships with engineering and design
Day 30 — own
Own 2–3 features end-to-end across your product areas
Run your first usability test with real users
Share AI prototypes or workflow improvements with the team
Begin discovery work on future product opportunities
Day 60 — lead
Drive all your product areas independently with minimal oversight
Establish a rhythm of spec → ship → measure → iterate
Present discovery findings and recommendations for future products
Represent Infilla in customer conversations related to your product areas
Be a net-positive force on the team — provide clarity and drive answers to enable others to do their best work
What's Hard
Multiple products at once — three areas plus discovery; prioritization is critical
Government stakeholders — planners, examiners, applicants, officials all want different things
Existing products with real users — you're stepping into things people depend on
High independence — support is available, but you drive your areas
Slow domain, fast team — government moves slowly; we don't
You Might Be a Great Fit If You…
Have experience shipping 0→1 products at early-stage startups
Use AI tools avidly as part of your daily work - whether it’s spec’ing, prototyping, figuring out micro-copy
Own areas independently — you create structure, not wait for it
Are a strong writer who uses specs and docs to drive alignment
Operate with urgency, zoom between strategy and execution, thrive in ambiguity
Are based in the San Francisco Bay Area, 3 days/week in person (remote considered for exceptional candidates only)
We offer competitive salary, healthcare and 401K benefits, unlimited PTO, and meaningful equity — you'll have real ownership in the company's success. We cannot sponsor visas at this time.
Research shows women & minorities are more likely to consider themselves unqualified if they don't meet every single requirement in a job description. This represents what we're ideally looking for, but everyone is unique. We hire for strengths & potential, not lack of weakness or a perfect resume fit.

Product Sense (30 min) + Collab (30 min) — do short product sense exercise following by a working session with Design and Engineering
Prototyping (60 min) — build something 0→1
Culture (30 min) — meet the founder in-person; discuss execution and collaboration.
Reference Checks — we’ll talk to 3+ former colleagues about how you operate. Optionally get lunch with the SF-based team and meet other Infilla teammates.
